I don't really get it.
Is it supposed to be a joke?

It just seems a bit ... freaky or something.. not funny i think..

Well, the kid was playing hide and seek, right? And he was a really good at hiding, and they had to send a search team out. I've heard this joke before, but it was titled "hide and seek." I guess that makes it easier to understand?
