can we have IRC like chat system . with command interface and all. like /me ,/whisper, /quit "msg",/away and i would like to have a "scroll bar lock" button it helps when u have been away and u try to catchup on what u missed when other users are chatting.
suggestions plz.

This is something that I mentioned once on a forum post, but alas, Morning had stated that he did not want to see this site become like all the others. Yet, if they want to appeal to the masses it must offer similar features as all the other sites.
He's appealed to the masses by making a quick form of art through graffiti, why not take it another step further? |

I just searched the forum, and I haven't found any previous post with "irc" in it, nor have I found that statement that you claim I made. Just checking that I didn't overlook any good suggestions from the past! 
Anyway, I think you made a good point - one that's worth to discuss in more detail.
Allow me to clarify: I didn't say that I didn't want to see this site become like "all the others". Which sites would that mean anyway?
What I said in the past (and I still feel that way today) is that I don't want to turn TheBroth in another Myspace or another "[INSERT NAME HERE]".
I believe that TheBroth is very unique - unlike any other site. Obviously though - many features you find on TheBroth can also be found on other sites and vice versa.
Maybe we're agreeing here: many sites offer similar features because they make sense in the context of these sites. These similarities may range from broad "also has chat" to narrow "also uses irc-style commands in the chat".
The decision on whether to implement particular features on TheBroth is independent of features seen on other sites. If a particular feature makes TheBroth better, we'll try to implement it. I feel that's the key issue here - "making TheBroth better" is ultimately what makes the site more appealing.
Personally, I quite like irc-style chat commands, and I hope we'll have them soon, regardless of whether other sites have them or not.
Many features that you see missing on TheBroth are still missing because we don't have enough man-power to implement them all as quickly as we'd like. Our todo list isn't shrinking. It gets longer every day!
Regardless, please keep the suggestions coming! There's no resistance on our part to implement cool features that make TheBroth better. We're just asking for a bit of patience. We're already working like mad!
The "graffiti" mode is still in beta - if you compare the rather advanced mosaic mode and the "oh please no more bugs" graffiti mode and their respective feature sets, you can see that it will take quite some time before we've got that mode "tricked out" in the way we planned. It will come though, and it will be VERY cool, if I may say so myself.
Rest assured, we're going to take this MANY steps further. |

But back on topic - our chat system could well do with a bit an overhaul. I hope we'll get round to fixing it up soon! |
