TheBroth now has classic mode and advanced mode. Advanced mode offers tile rotation, custom textures and canvas background color.

Rooms and thumbnails of artworks made in advanced mode have a small icon next to them so the mode is immediately recognizable. Check it out in the active rooms page and in the gallery!

All existing rooms are by default in advanced mode, but you can very easily switch back to classic mode.

In the gallery, new artworks in classic mode will continue to compete with the existing classic artworks, and the new-fangled artworks that make use of the new features will be in a separate category.

For users not yet familiar with how to best use the advanced features, I strongly recommend to read the revised How to play help page. It really does help! Smile

EDIT>>>>>>: i like the idea of background color and personally don't have any problems with "html color notations" but i think for some people it could be quite uneasy.Don't you think......why not make it uploadable as well.......?

In the future, we'll probably add a simple color picker tool that gives you the hex RGB code.

For those with a passing interest in RGB and hex colors, I can recommend this wonderful website:

http://www.web-colors-explained.com

It explains RGB and hex and even has a cool color training tool! Smile

(and yes, we made that web site... Cool )

Just an observation:

I notice that the majority of recent gallery submissions all use the advanced mode. One side effect is of course that the "best recent classic submissions, last 30 days" gallery will die out by itself if there are no new submissions in classic mode.

So I suppose that if one day there are less than 10 classic recent gallery submissions, it's hardly worth linking to another page, and if there is less than 5, it's hardly worth keeping the "best recent classic" on the gallery home page.

Makes me think, there's little point keeping something that nobody uses... Confused

So, those who have called for the classic mode feature, I urge you to make use of it in order to keep the classic mode alive!
