Online education

Is any of you studying online? If so, please let me know about it. I want to know about it. I heard it is gainig popularity. Is it so?How will I know whether the institution is fake or not? Is there any online instution for high school students which is cheap or free? plz let me know.

I'm not sure about where you are, but here in the UK we have facilities like the Open University. I've not actually done a course with them myself, but I know people who have. They also give you a local college to meet with advisors from the OU from time to time.

I'm sure if you ask your school/college advisors they'll be able to point you in the right direction to an official course that is available for you. If not try going to your local youth careers office, again, I'm not sure what the situation is outside the UK, but here we have careers officers for under 21's affiliated with our local libraries/jobcentres.

hmm... i go to a "physical world" university, but I have taken online courses. I took them through a technical college and it was a joke. I never cracked the book until the test came and I got an A. I wouldn't say I learned anything, but maybe these courses weren't as involved as most.

Also, one was a history class and whenever test time came (if I couldn't find the answer in the book) I could google all my questions.

edit: in regards to "is it real or fake" question. Many schools offer online courses for people who cannot make it to the campus on a regular basis, so check around at schools in your area.

I took an online class once through a University. It was a 2nd level computer profiency class. We had weekly projects that included Word, Powerpoint, and excel documents as well as html/website building projects. We were assigned to groups of 5 by the course professor. We met every other week to talk about projects as a group and turned in and completed individual work.

It was pretty awesome! Although, sometimes I did have trouble with html and I wished I had a physical professor to talk to about my dilemnas. We would email him our concerns, but I'm a visual/tactile person and I needed to see some of the items that I had trouble with. Since he lived 5-hours away, it was impossible to set up a meeting with him to further discuss my problems. Luckily, I was able to pass the course with flying colors!
