Blog tracker?

I was wondering if there was a way of implementing a "new comment alert" feature for the blogs? I'd find it quite useful in the profile view to see if any new comments have been posted on my blogs since I last looked.

Example:

That sounds like a good idea. It's kinda like tracking snapshots.

Blog comment tracking is on our to-do list. So is paging of user blogs. I'm sure most of you won't have missed that we've been working like mad to get some other things done first that had higher priority. Doesn't mean we overlook feature requests - it's just that many feature request are just echoing what's on our to-do list anyway.

To Immortal: It's not that we don't like certain ideas, it's just that we won't implement them when we have solutions coming up that make these features unnecessary. For example, I've been explaining repeatedly why we won't create a TheBroth police and that there'll be a better way to deal with room vandalism. Well, the day has come, room vandalism is no more, thanks to room rewind and improved room privacy options.

We're even too busy to boastfully report on the new features, but I promise, we'll get 'round to that too! Smile

Just a quick update: The blogs now have paging, and when you're online, you get an instant notification if somebody makes a comment on your blog post (or on any tracked snapshot, for that matter).

This isn't the the same yet as blog comment tracking which will come too. In fact we'll rearrange the profile page a lot (again!) and then we'll have lots of new cool features, and blog comment tracking is going to be just one of them.

You'll also be able to manage your favorite blogs (via a simple "subscribe to this blog" checkbox), and you'll be able to show off your favorite snapshots on your profile. That's going to be a quite cool feature, but for this we have to yet again change the snapshot/gallery page a little bit... these things do take time, so your patience is appreciated Smile

Just to keep up with the chronology of it all, and to bring closure to the points raised in the previous post: We now have implemented most of what was promised.

1) Blog paging is further improved with proper previous/next links
2) "Subscribe to this blog" is now implemented
3) You can now show off your favorite snapshots in your profile

Still to do:

*) Proper blog comment tracking, where you can see on your profile page how many new comments there are on your blog posts.
*) Email notifications: Optionally get notified by email when there is a new comment to a blog post of yours.
