Hmm, this one should go in a FAQ of some sort. How can you add more tiles?
Well - you can't!
The whole idea of TheBroth is that we all share a limited set of tiles. This way, you will probably have to destroy some part of what somebody else has created.
This keeps TheBroth dynamic!
If you could add tiles, everyone would just add and add until the screen is completely full with thousands of tiles. That's not really collaborative though - that's everyone adding their stuff until there's no white space left.
Collaboration and new creative things happen because of the restriction of a set number of tiles. At the time of writing, we have 1000 tiles. That's plenty, but also, it's not quite enough to cover all whitespace.
To cut this long story short - you can't add new tiles, for a reason. |

| ya, ur limited to only 1000 tiles, so then everyones is equal in tile amount, otherwise it'd become easier to make more elaborate drawing with more tiles, and so on. so u cant get more. |

| Just for interests sake...what about having a double resolution room (perhaps for high rollers only) where the tiles are 1/2 size. this would of course result in four times as many tiles 4000 (2x2) and much finer pictures. (Also much later nights and less sleep...knew there would be a downside...) |

It would be nice to have an option when creating private rooms.
Like:
1,000-tile room
1,500-tile room
so that you can choose, depending on the picture you're planning to make. Also, make it so that you can't "add" but you can choose a pre-disponed amount of tiles so that you can work collaboratively with them. this would be a really cool feature! |

i like every pic having the same amount of tiles, and the tiles being the same size...it make it all equal and less variables when comparing arts.

| i also agree with KarateGirl. But i think it wont hurt that much if all the rooms are upgraded altogether to a default of 2K or 4K finer tiles. |

rawc, what would we do with all the snapshots in the gallery that were done with 1000 tiles then? Or should we simply not allow rooms with 1000+ tiles to make snapshots? We'd also have to disable the import snapshot function, since all other snaps were done with 1000 tiles, and that would be incompatible...

I don't think we need finer tiles. Believe you and me, I think working with these size tiles are perfect enough and cause me to get a blurry vision after much Brothing. I would hate to see what would happen with all of our visions if The Broth decided to add finer tiles. No way!
Maybe the quantities could be optional for private rooms, but please do not make the tiles finer! I already wear glasses and my vision suffers after I've brothed for a couple of hours. |

I agree that we need more tiles because there are some drawing unfinished because of the lack of tiles, and I would not like to destroy a part of my drawing to complete it. I recommend you to give us the option of a 2000 or maybe to 3000 tiles. And you caould create a category with those snapshots made in a 3000 tiled room Just an idea!!! |

I read it alright...
Why are people still making these suggestions? I still don't know. But, it would be good to have. You know? |

Tile Useage A few facts.
1000 tiles laid edge to edge will make an oblong
50x20 or40x25.
if you want a square then 31x31 will leave 39 spares.
If you overlap the tiles half way onto their neighbours you will produce a picture that is the same size as one made with 1/4 of the tiles (250) laid edge to edge.(about 16 square for instance.)
If you are to produce a picture with a lot of overlap or edge smoothing the overall size can be estimated before laying down the shape using these basic rules.
Also
If you have a large area of fill use the 'shift place' option to ensure no overlaps until you get to the edges where you obviously need to accurately fit to them.
In this way with a little planning you can produce a finished work with the tiles you have. (most of the time...lol) |

Wow, that's good to know, thanks for the measurements and all of the interesting information. |
