Colour selection tool

Any way the colour selection tool can be enhanced, and maybe made bigger? It's so hard grabbing the exact colour to use. Driving me mental trying it with the graphics tablet!!!

Since it's related, is there any way to make the selection tool capable of copying the background color too? It's pretty easy to "erase" a mistake when the background color is white or black - when it's a specific shade of blue, it's a lot harder.
