You've probably already noticed, we're finally getting round to fixing up the somewhat underdeveloped profile pages.
What you'll notice is that each profile page now shows not only all your gallery submissions in form of half-size thumbnails, it also shows your last five comments on artworks.
Similarly, we've made the homepage look a little bit clearer, and there you'll see a mini version of the "blog spy" feature in form of "the last 10 user blog entries".
The playermap that's been pretty much lost for quite some time makes a welcome comeback too.
We're far from done with the overhaul - both home page and profile pages are going to look a lot nicer than before, with a lot more useful information on it.  |

| do you use NoScript or any other Javascript blocking extension? If so, you might have to allow Javascript from google.com, or at least maps.google.com |

I like the new profile page, except for the "Recent Comments Made." I necessary do not care about viewing the comments that I've made. Also, if I've made a negative comment it shows up as a "negative" sign next to my comment. I feel like I'm a bad person because of this. It's like its pointing it out to other people as they view my profile page.
What I did was to then view through the Gallery and give more pluses so that the negatives would erase from my recent list. I think we can all do without this small detail. I mean it's not necessary. (I left a negative sign just so that you guys could view it, but before this I was rushing out to find excellent artwork to rate so that my other negatives would erase.) |

The feature wasn't really complete then, but it is now: It shows how many replies there are to recent comments of yours. This is quite useful and can help so that discussion threads related to an artwork can occur. In the past, if you commented on some random image, that comment was basically lost until accidentally discovered in the future by somebody else.
In addition, there was a bug where it would show "minus" even when people didn't rate one way or another. This is fixed now too.
In general, rating something negative doesn't make anyone a bad person, and as long as you don't comment, nobody will ever know that you "minused" the artwork.
If you do comment, your rating and comment is obviously visible on the artwork page. With this new feature, it also becomes visible on your profile. I think seeing how people comment is actually quite telling and interesting in its own right.

Well... we had the 5 most recent forum posts on the profile, but now the home page shows a lot more info, including the last 10 most recent forum post.
While I have to say - after getting used to it, I miss it too - but: It didn't feel right to duplicate all this info on each and every profile page - that's just not what profiles are for.
I hope we can make the homepage better still so that both the homepage and your profile become very worthwhile pages to visit. |

| I agree with GoGo. I haven't checked the recent forum posts, because I forgot that they moved. I miss them being in my profile page. It was very helpful for me to have them there. |

I've done a bit of more work on TheBroth home page. You may notice that for now I've removed these terribly loud banners.
They are also gone from mosaic rooms and from replay pages - not only because they were often loud (literally, with sound!) but also because they often contained Flash content, which can be a resource hog and then make the mosaic rooms (which also use Flash) appear sluggish, especially if your computer is not a fast model.
The banners are probably not gone for good. They'll come back when TheBroth is popular enough to attract specific advertisers, and we'll be able to restrict the type of banner shown on particular pages. For now, we have to make do with 3rd party advertising providers and we have only limited influence on the type of ads shown.
Ok, while we're at redesigning - what are your ideas on what should go onto the profile pages?
Suggest away - all ideas and suggestions are welcome. While we'll do our best NOT to make TheBroth into another myspace, most people enjoy at least some degree of personalization and customization.
So - what would you like to see on the profile page? |
