| I've seen Emma, Sense & Sensibility, and Pride and Prejudice. I've read Northanger Abbey and at the moment I'm reading Emma (pg 264). It's a massive book, but I'm almost determined to get through it. I like it so far. My friends like Pride and Prejudice better. So, people, what do you think? What's your favorite Jane Austen novel? |

| Im going to read sense and sensibility so i cant decide whether to chose pride and prjudice or that. So far pride and prejudice is the best to me. I hated emma coz i felt it was stretched further and further although the plot did not get any intersting. |

I all like Jane Austen books and have read most of them (and seen them in film or on TV) Pride and Prejudice is my favourite (especially the version with Colin Firth walking back from the lake after his swim).
My all time favourite classic novel has to be Jane Eyre which i have read at least 5 times perhaps more. Its a real chick book. A great soppy ending. |

I haven't read Jane Eyre, but Shehzeen likes it a lot (especially the ending, she made me read the part where the guy professes his love for Jane Eyre). I've noticed that Jane Austen follows a certain trend in her novels - they're all about women finding their way, with a man in the background. I just finished reading Emma, and I didn't think it was terrible. In fact, I enjoyed it (but that's because I saw the movie first). At the moment I'm reading Sense and Sensibility (I've seen the movie, so no surprises there), and so far, so good.
I dunno. I kinda like Jane Austen's novels, even though the plots are a little stretched. Maybe it's because of the lack of the 'Gothic' element (anyone remember Catherine Earnshaw's melodrama in 'Wuthering Heights'? You'll know what I mean).
Guess I'm not a big fan of hyperbolic novels. |
