| I've got a permanent sweet tooth and I'm always on the look out for good dessert recipes, preferably easy ones that have been tried and tested. |

This one isn't too rich or sickly sweet and if you like choc peppermint its yummy.
Grasshopper Torte
35gms Butter
a package of Chocolate thins (a plain biscut with a choc bottom)
4 cups of white marshmellows(pink ruins the colour)
3/4 cup milk
1/4 cup of Creme de menthe
2 tablespoons of Creme de Cacao (I never have any of this so its optional)
1 cup of stiffly beaten cream
2 teasp gelatine
2 tablesp of cold water
Melt butter and mix with finely crushed biscuits.
Press crumbs into a 23 cm round dish and chill(have a secound dish of crumbs ready as well as there is a lot of filling)
Microwave marshmellows and milk 1 to 2 mins and stir until marshmellows are melted and combined. microwave gelatine and water for 15 secs and blend into mixture. Add liquors. and leave to cool.
Fold in whipped cream. Pour mixture into crumbed dishes and chill till firm. decorate with whipped cream choc shavings and any crumbs left over from base. Enjoy!!!! |

To add little extra to a boring dish of vanilla ice cream I pour over a little double cream. It freezes slightly on the ice cream and gives it a delicious extra bit of texture.
I also grate some chocolate into plain yoghurt if I fancy something not so sweet. The sweetness of the chocolate balances the tang of the yoghurt perfectly.
This is a simple dessert I saw on Ready Steady Cook the other day which I'm gonna try:
Amaretto biscuits
Tia Maria (optional)
Coffee (a teaspoon dissolved in some hot water and left to cool, adjust to taste. Decaf is fine)
Vanilla ice cream
Crush some amaretto up and put it in some dessert glasses. Pour a little of the coffee over to soak into the biscuits. Fill the glass with ice cream and amaretto layers, finishing with a biscuit layer. Pour a little Tia Maria over the top (or some more coffee could be substituted) This last shot of liquid will filter down the edges of the glass. Serve with a dollop of cream on top if you're feeling extra naughty
You could vary this with different ice cream flavours and liquids, I've just given this one as it's similar to Tiramisu and sounds scrummy... |

This is tried and tested and its really good (ask Shehzeen, she had my brownies)
Found this recipe in a newspaper.
Ingredients:
1 cup milk chocolate chopped
1/2 cup condensed milk
2 teaspoons of butter melted
handful of raisins
1/2 cup white chocolate chopped
half a cup crushed digestive biscuits
method:
Put the milk chocolate, condensed milk and butter in a large bowl. heat slowly till melted. Beat smooth and cool slightly, stir in raisins, white chocolate and digestive biscuits. now pour the mix into a baking dish, pressing down well. Chill until well set.
Enjoy! |
