Another idea. (Title should be TimeLapse Brothography..)

We see the finished piece of work and we know how it started but what would be really cool is a TimeLapse option.

What’s that I hear you say?

Just this…You click on the TimeLapse option link and it then shows you (In about 20-30-40 seconds..?) all the tile moves that went into the snapshot submitted.

Whoooaaa you say... Not all moves because that would be huge to store that kind of data.

Agreed, No, all you would need is the very first point reference x,y,z cords (Chosen Auto, but owner can set at any time in room edit page) and then the final location ones. Then when running the tiles would move similar to how they do when watching others work (But faster, much faster. 30-40 a second) and over this period you could see the image take life…

Not sure what would look better, move order, or from top x,y, coord down etc, so that it builds from top to bottom of snapshot area.

I think that would be a really nice way for people to see how these works of art developed and came to life, and it would look really cool...

Just another thought and that would be so cool to watch.. Shocked What do you all think…

I think it's a great idea, I often save snaphots along the way and then save them into files on my pc so I have my own record of creating. Maybe if your idea is too difficult to implement there could be an option of a "work in progress" snapshot feature which, when finished, places the selected snaps into a slideshow effect?

Hmm, this idea was alluded to in the "AIM Buddy Icons" thread, where discussion turned to screen savers (it would make a great screen saver idea, we said). But still, great idea.

This is a good idea but I don't know that it's all that practical. I think we'd be better off letting the Broth put their efforts into other possible features because I don't know how much it would be utilized. At first everyone would use it but then later I think it'd be one of those things that are just kinda there.

Brrr-FrostNZ makes a habit of revealing our future plans. Smile Well, the cat's out of the bag, so to speak, so why not reveal it all:

In the future, for each room, there will be a movie feature. You'll be able to rewind and take snapshots at any point, in the full history of the room. Very Happy

Most of the design work is done. I can't give an ETA of this feature, as other things related to promotion and monetising of TheBroth are more important right now.

If you want to help, get the word out. Get bloggers to write about TheBroth. Spread the word in forums. Tell it to your local newspapers and/or TV stations... anything goes!

That will be very useful when destructive users come in and ruin some work.

sound good, but the amount of data that would need to be stored and accessed, woud surely slow the site down, [or have i got it wrong?]

Infact I found Morning oneday testing the feature in one room though did not have the luck to see it before others.. He just told us, who were in that room, to move some tiles, give some + - to each other and told he was making a movie.. So the work is progressing in full swing.

And flipflop i dont think that it is going to slow down the site. If all the events are saved in the client side then there will infact be no movement of extra data for the movie.. Cause each player can see everything going on real time and hence there is no need to bring down all the data from the main server...
