You may find that you rate an artwork, and you're the first to rate it, but when you look at the detail view of the artwork, it is not listed as 100%, even though you were the only one, submitting a + vote.
Well - welcome to Bayesian Rating! It's a good thing that your snapshot didn't make it straight to #1. After all, how much can we trust that rating if there is only one vote?
Even if there is 3 positive votes and no negative votes, should that snapshot shoot to #1 position? Probably not!
So... using Bayes' theorem, TheBroth employs a weighted rating system. The more votes a snapshot has, the more we trust the rating. If it has only few votes, each vote, positive or negative, will only have little power to influence the rating away from the average rating of snapshots.
Read all about it in our tutorial here, we're discussing how anyone can implement Bayesian Rating (weighted rating) on their web site(s). |
