More classical music

I still can't believe I'm listening to classical music. What's even more amazing is that I actually went and spent money on a CD set of classical piano music!

Ok... so who kidnapped the real Freaky Friday?!?

The CD set is "The Classic 100 Piano" compiled and released by ABC Classics. It's pretty much a compilation of the favourite 100 piano "masterpieces" as voted by listeners of ABC Classic FM.

There's 8 CDs in the set, over 9 hours of music... that's a lot of music.

I've gotten through CD 1 today, that's 14 songs, 1.2 hours. Hard to pick a favourite because they're all very good and pretty famous pieces. If I absolutely must just pick one, I'd go with Debussy's Clair De Lune.

Biggest surprise on the CD 1... Chopsticks. (wot the?!)

Hey...Chopsticks is the only one I can play.
I love the music I would refer to as 'modern classic', by people like Ron goodwin, and more recently John williams. Most of their work is known as the great movie themes of our age.

I was just having a similar discussion last night. You don't hear of great classical composers anymore these days. I'm sure they're out there, but you rarely hear of them because they're drowned out by the popular music. I'm not knocking popular music, but you don't hear great classical compositions unless you're watching a movie, and even then I feel as if the music would not have been as moving our significant without the movie behind it.
