A worrying situation...

13 Feb 07 in Pets and Animals

In the last few days there have been a few cats dying for seemingly no reason. The black & white one we named Thomas has been found dead, alongside a small tabby that died between yesterday and today. I've spoken to the woman who feeds the strays round here and she says Thomas was fine three days ago, and the tabby was fine yesterday morning. Both seemed healthy and had good appetites. My brother in law has seen a couple more, but these are the only two I've seen. I'm also going to warn other people who have cats, best to be on the safe side.

My suspicions that Davi was poisoned are stronger now. 18 months ago our old neighbour had to take his cat (George) to the vet with poisoning, he alerted me to it at the time. So much time had passed that we didn't think to put two and two together, but this recent spate of deaths is very worrying.

I've rung Environmental Services to remove the tabby (the kids round this area have already started messing with the poor thing, it's on a footpath) and I've also rung the RSPCA to tell them my suspicions. They've passed the info on to the inspector and will ring me to let me know the outcome.

As soon as I know more I'll update.

oh no Bebi - I am so sorry to hear that. Hope that the cuprit is caught rapidly if there is someone poisoning cats in your area.

My youngest Muscat who is 10 yrs went to the vets yesterday as she is passing blood in her urine and they have had her for about 30 hours now to get a proper sample off her and she has still not been! They are going to sedate her thisafternoon if she has not been by 3.30. and get one by some means. I want her home poor thing - worried! Tame

There's not a lot more we can do ourselves apart from keeping an eye on who's doing what in the street. Hopefully if we're vigilent enough we'll either find out who it is or put them off trying again.

Fingers crossed for Muscat, I'm sure she'll be relieved to come home too :O) xxx
