Avatar...

Oh dear... I seem to be having trouble deciding on a new Avatar... I've tested a few with many more to go…

I’m playing with some animation options also now that I have actually opened GIMP…May take a while though...

...and cheating at the moment playing with others images until I get used to the way to do things... then hopefully a knockout Brrr-esque creation will be forthcoming...

Feel free to abuse at your leisure... :)

My TheBroth Favourites (Land Animal)

Title : ‘The Blackbuck’

Editorial :
When I first saw this image in thumbnail it just blew me away. The shape and form have been captured brilliantly and the shading just brings that out to perfection.

This stood out amongst the many at the time it was published to the gallery and well and truly put yet another notch in the post for this brilliant and well respected artist.

Title : ‘The Hippo'

Editorial :
I love animals. I like to see beautiful creatures in real life and I only slightly less like to see masterful pieces of art created about these animals I love.

This Hippo is yet another excellent addition to the forever growing menagerie which, as above added to the portfolio of yet another one of the top artists frequenting TheBroth.

Title : ‘The Cheetah

Editorial :
Another wild animal, yet another cat. And one of mine this time. (Sorry. lol)

I couldn’t help including this in my favourites list. It is just so beautiful a creature and I did not want to pass up an opportunity to flaunt it. It is wicked and was very close behind the wasp (a whisker) for my personal favourite.

If I can create anything anywhere as close to this again and bring out the same level of personality and power I will be a happy Broth’er….

My TheBroth Favourites (Personal)

Title : ‘The Wasp’

Editorial : I am not sure why I like this one so much. I hate them with a passion but they are so beautiful to look at. This mosaic although it has good impact has many flaws including some colour choices that are dubious in places; based on need rather than design. (The colour seeding was done just the once and I was stuck with he choice after I had started)

When I finished this I couldn’t stop smiling. Every time I look at it I think, God that’s awesome; especially when viewed from thumbnail.

Just like many others who have questioned the way opinion and the vote go here at TheBroth (Holly lately if I remember) I am also surprised that it has never made it higher in the ranks.

That’s what being a horrible stingy annoying pest of a bug does for you I suppose.

My TheBroth Favourites (Human Form)

14 Jan 07 in TheBroth

Artist: Helpful Walrus

Title : ‘The Lamentation’

Editorial :
If you are going to do a likeness of the human form then you had better make sure its good. It is probably one of the most recognisable images on the planet and therefore one of the easiest in which to spot mistakes and gross miss-perspectives of.

If you are, and do create one that isn’t an absolute likeness (This does have its imperfections) then it needs to hit you in other ways to rock your visual cortex and pull up little goose bumps on the arms. Only the finest creations achieve this and I feel this one; which I have personally titled ; The Lamentation’ - Hope you approve Helpful Walrus - does just that and inspires so much through the intense emotion and unspoken pain that visuals alone provide.

It is not a surprise to see this as yet another work of art from the mind of Helpful Walrus and it lives quite securely and comfortably amongst the other brilliant images also put to tile by this visionary.

My TheBroth Favourites (Of Special Note)

14 Jan 07 in TheBroth

Artist: rhain

Title : ‘The Climbers’

Editorial :
If I remember rightly rhain had some difficulty in believing in what he was submitting. I think one of the quotes from myself at the time…
‘ rhain, you are a marvel.. and there you were saying you were having trouble in your blog... ‘
attests to that…

I considered this just a brilliant concept and so unusual and impacting that it has always been in my mind as one of the better creations here. This one I feel should be so much higher in rank than it is now but again that is personal opinion…

I have reviewed / commended this mosaic purely because I didn’t want this one to disappear into the void of history never to be appreciated as much as I feel it should continue to be…

My TheBroth Favourites (Just Plain Strange)

14 Jan 07 in TheBroth

Artist: Helpful Walrus

Title : ‘IT - SH’IM’

Editorial :
This is just damn awesome.

It’s so strange and when submitted, totally out of the ordinary compared to most of the gallery submissions.
Just what was going through Helpful Walrus
mind when this came out I have no idea (Enlighten us) but please please don’t stop thinking more along these lines.

I do not worry to much based on what has come from this talented artists mouse hand since.
I am hoping that this was not a copy of an image seen elsewhere and that this is truly unique. I am almost certain that it is unique. (Not insult intended.)

The quote from myself at the time…
‘Just look at the delicate slope of the shoulder, the sultry downward glance and the provocatively angled naked knee ‘
tends to indicate a sexiness of some kind that emanates from the green menace.
I am not sure I see that anymore (lol bigtel) but I do still just love this mosaic for what it is;

The sheer creativity, vision and humour brought to the fore with a refusal to submit another run of the mill image from the usual list of subjects is refreshing...

My TheBroth Favourites (Overall – Just Inspirational)

Artist: Green Fly

Title : ‘The Horse’

Editorial :
How staggeringly creative and absolutely amazing can any one mosaic be. This one just beats the door down with pure personality and originality.

Where the devil Green Fly pulled this from especially considering that during the 1st Competition
we were limited to; lets face it a really naff palette, is unbelievable and quite beyond me.

For one of the best creations to come from that environment is hard to believe and yet we all see the evidence in front of our eyes. This one absolutly deserved the top accolade there.

Green Fly is quite fresh at TheBroth and is someone to watch out for to top the first page of the Highest Rated Artworks
gallery soon.

Oh Dear, Oh Dear Oh Dear oh Dear.. What Next

6 Oct 06 in TheBroth

Its been a while now since I spent any time creating... Time to browse and read has been ample but time to move tiles just isnt there...It will happen though.

So, what to do...lets take a look...

Do we see a pattern....

Not sure why when I don’t particularly like creepy crawlies. I think it is because they are beautiful to look at and awe-inspiring creatures... All gods creatures are stunning in their own right and if i can capture a little of that, that would be something to see.

Another pattern...

....and as requested to be reloaded to the public gallery -

What next though...Perhaps I should try something mechanical.... Or man made again... like this...

What will the future reveal....
