Blog subscription and better navigation

January 30th, 2007 in New Features · By Markus Weichselbaum

New feature: Subscribe to blogs of your favorite authors! Plus, there’s now better navigation between individual blog posts.

Many users use the blog spy feature regularly. It allows you to view a list of recent blog entries. The new “My blog subscriptions” feature is pretty much identical to the blog spy feature - the difference is, it only lists blog entries of the authors whose blogs you’re interested in.

Subscribing to a blog author is simple: Tick the checkbox “subscribe to this blog” on the right hand side of your friends or favorite author’s blog, and that’s that. (Please don’t get confused - you can’t subscribe to the developer blog - but you could subscribe to my user blog).

For the nosy ones amongst us, “Blog spy” and “My blog subscriptions” can easily be accessed from either page.

Better navigation

Long overdue, there are now “previous” and “next” links on top of each blog post, just like in the developer blog. In fact, you’re looking at a developer blog post right now. See those nice links with the yellow arrows? Those go to the previous and next posts - if there is a newer post, that is. Long story short: This feature is now also available on all user blogs.

This is really pretty handy. For example, now you can finally get in on the hype and read Roman Centurion’s masterful (and increasingly famous) blog from start to finish. You can start right here with the first post in that amazing story: http://www.thebroth.com/blogpost79.html
