i'm not the paragon, but you have several styles of shading:

    1) hatching...
lines going in one direction, varying in width and spacing

    2) crosshatching...
    lines overlapping from several directions,
    varying in width and spacing

    3)pointelism (sp?)...
shading accomplished by the use of dots of different hue, value, spacing and frequency

    4) layering of colors...
which you seem to be doing rather well...
but look at some of Facechild and Nammie's for hints

    5)chiaroscurro...
Dark darks and Bright Lights and the juxtaposition of both

    6) contours
like hatching, but following a wavy, form defining path like a mountainous topography map

    hope this was somewhat helpful...

is this a background for an interplay yet in occurence, or perhaps a scene in which the viewer has chanced upon to late? Perhaps this is an artistic sommentary on the inherant nature of voyeurism engaged in the viewing of aesthetic creation, as well as breaking down the often unheeded assumption that what is shown the viewer is perhaps a very priviledged piece of the artist's on psyche... and perhaps that piece or peace can never fully be communicated... only a stage to be shown for a play that occurs inside one's own self.

Wow! Great tips rarity. I'm glad you asked Holly since I can do with the tips as well. I didn't know about the different styles.
