Because our flagship game Barn Buddy continues to experience rapid growth we need somebody with experience and excellent sys admin kungfu to help us manage our growing server infrastructure requirements.
Besides keeping our games up on a day to day basis, you'll take full ownership of some big projects, such as optimizing our testing, staging and deployment solutions. You'll create a reliable backup system and take care of all server health and monitoring aspects. You'll be on call, but you'll build out and tune our systems to the point where being on call no longer matters because the systems are reliable and running smoothly.
You'll be an extremely nimble and flexible problem solver with the sense of ownership and urgency it takes to ensure our games are always up. Serious experience building/administering at least a medium-scale (25 servers) system in a LAMP environment (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) is the baseline for this role. You'll likely have MySQL replication knowledge, and good knowledge of a variety of standard services such as Nagios and Cacti. On top of that, you may have some combination of experience with Lighttp, setting up DNS, load balancing, sharding, and CDNs. And since we're a startup, it's a must that you're a strong team player who doesn't mind occasionally assembling desks or moving boxes.
